STILL WINES

The South West of France has a fabulously rich wine culture, with plentiful supplies of excellent wines.  Here’s our brief guide on where you might like to visit when deciding on your wedding day wine line-up…

Bergerac

Bergerac offers summery merlots and crisp sauvignon blancs. It even has its own regional airport, meaning you can book yourselves a wine-tasting long weekend without breaking the bank!

Prices start from c. 4€ per bottle

Bordeaux

To the West of Bergerac is the Bordeaux region.  Offering a huge range of wines with equally diverse pricing, here you can pick up a bottle for as little as 2€ or, if you stop by the UNESCO World Heritage Site at St. Emilion or next door Pomerol, you’ll see some particularly well renowned reds at the other end of the pricing spectrum!

Prices start from c. 2€ per bottle

Gascony

Further South you’ll come across the Gascony region, with the majority of wines being represented at the Vignerons de Buzet – a winemakers’ union.  This is a great place to visit for those without a lot of spare time, as you can try wines from all over the region in one, swift tasting.

Prices start from c. 4€ per bottle

Cahors

Cahors is the home of Malbec, and is a big hit with our couples. However, do bear in mind that the wines sold in this region may not be appropriate for a hot summer’s day in SW France…

Decent options starting from 8€ per bottle
