A country rich with history, France is full of significant ancient ruins and there is arguably no part of France more steeped in history than the Aquitaine region in the South West.
The ruins of Richard the Lion-Heart’s 13th Century fortified castle, atop the medieval town and former stronghold of Penne-d’Agenais, are set in the foundations of history and the shadow of the impressive Basilique Notre-Dame de Peyragude. This is a very special location for a spiritual couple.
Catholic blessings can also be held inside the 150-year-old church, built on a site occupied by a place of worship since the Middle Ages.
Couples marrying here can take advantage of the natural caves and shrine under the ruined castle for some spectacular photos together, as well as the medieval gateway to the fortified town and the charming cobbled streets winding back down the the village.
An historically religious country, France has not shortage of churches, most dating back to the medieval period.
If a church blessing is what you’re dreaming of, your elopement planner will work to match your aesthetic preferences with your religious beliefs.
It can take many months to complete all the paperwork required for a church blessing so do get in touch as early as possible to avoid disappointment.
For a more bohemian couple, what could be better than a peaceful clearing in the woods, surrounded by nature with a soundtrack of birds chirping in the trees?
With a design upgrade, we can work with our partners at Love, Coralberry to ameliorate the space as per your wishes, creating the backdrop you’re dreaming of – be that a teepee, a chandelier of roses, 1000 jars of flowers suspended from the trees or anything else your heart desires…
